Porto & Braga tour is a private 3-day tour combining history and religion. In addition to Porto, it includes a visit to Guimarães and Coimbra historical villages and the beautiful Braga Sanctuary.

After departing from Lisbon your local guide / driver will take you to Porto. You will visit several interesting places in Porto, namely the Stock Exchange Palace, the Castle of Cheese and a Port Wine Cellar. We will also visit the St. Francis Church, a church in gothic style that is located in Porto’s historic center and dates back to the fourteenth century.

On the second day your local guide / driver will take you to the Castle of Guimarães. The city of Guimarães was the first capital of the County of Portugal and its Castle is one of the most important alive memories of the independence of Portugal. Then you will visit Braga, a city founded by the Roman Empire (at that time called Bracara Augusta) that has over 2000 years of history. The Cathedral of Braga and Bom Jesus’ Sanctuary are the main points of attraction. If this second day coincides with a Thursday, you will visit the market in Barcelos. Finally, your local guide / driver will take you Viana do Castelo, a city that was born and raised along the River Lima and where you can observe different architectural styles (Renaissance, Manueline Baroque and Art Deco). Our final destination is the Monte de Santa Luzia, a place of scenic beauty. At the end of the day you will return to Porto.

On the third day we will drive to Aveiro, where you will go on a boat ride in the canals of this village also called the Portuguese Venice. You will also visit the local salt pans. Your tour continues towards south, and you will stop in Coimbra. There you will visit the University of Coimbra, one of the oldest Universities in Europe dating back to the sixteenth century. At the end of this day your local guide / driver will leave you at your hotel in Lisbon.

The above itinerary is planned using Porto as a base, so that you don’t have to pack and unpack every day. Meals and accommodation are not included as they change from person to person. During the booking process Different Portugal will be glad to help you with the hotel reservations and such.

No meals or entrance fees are included. Wine tasting in the Porto wine cellar is included as well as a boat ride in a “moliceiro”. In the middle of the day tour we stop in a typical Portuguese restaurant where you can taste the best of the Portuguese gastronomy.
